Heat based safety plan
At a walk in the park, the safety and well-being of your beloved canine companion are always my top priority, especially when the temperatures rise.
My heat-based safety plan is designed to ensure that every dog enjoys their time with us comfortably and securely, even on the warmest days.
Communication is vital
I inform owners proactively via Whatsapp /SMS about our heat safety plan when hot weather is forecast - any changes to specific walk times or activities due to extreme heat will be communicated directly to affected owners with as much notice as possible
Paws off the pavement
I test pavement temperatures before setting off - If it's too hot for the back of my hand, it's to hot for your pup
Shifting to shadows
If it's warm, I stick exclusively to shaded woodland trails, grassy fields and cooler paths
Changing times
I may change the timing of your pups walks to earlier in the day or even shorten the walk and offer home based play or companionship instead
Hydration station
Fresh, cold water is always on hand and we stop for regular breaks in the shade
Slowing the pace
Hot days are for sniffing and strolling, not sprinting
Constant supervision
I am trained to spot the very early signs of overheating - action will be taken immediately if any dog shows signs of discomfort
Brachycephalic dogs
Flat nosed dogs find it much harder to regulate their temperature, making them highly susceptible to heatstroke even on milder warm days - therefore I can only offer this breed of pups with indoor mental enrichment and very brief shaded toilet breaks
Your dog's safety and happiness is key, so I will always ensure they're comfortable and stress-free
Your dog's safety is our promise
We are dedicated to providing a safe, fun, and loving environment for your dog, no matter the weather. Our heat safety plan is just one way we uphold our commitment to their well-being. For any further questions, please contact us.
